10k.

last friday i ran 10k a day ahead of schedule. typically the long run is saturday, but i was in nashville all weekend and didn't want to plan to run there.

my calves were a little sore, but i ran through it. it really wasn't too bad. i kept my heart rate under control until the very end, when i worked a little harder to finish. final time was 59:25 for 6.28 miles, for a 9:28 pace.

this week i'm going to incorporate some interval training. i know i can do more than this. i think i'll do 3 miles tomorrow at a comfortable pace, but wednesday or thursday will be interval.

I started jogging at about the same age as you have. By 1974 when we moved to GR I was doing 5 miles per day for 4-5 day per week at about 8 minute miles. That should give you some incentive. Love, Dad

interval training??? Yuk... I tried that Monday and it kicked my butt.

Is stopping at subway right after your 3 mile run on your training schedule? You make Jared proud...
